lent 32 What God did today

Apologies for late posting of the Blog.  I was at a conference today.  A womens thing.   Im not a big fan of ' womens things' in church cos they tend to be all crafty, lacy, pink and girly tied up with ribbons affairs - and Im just not that sort of woman.  At all.

However, this conference wasn't too pink and fluffy and had at its core a bunch of very strong and practical determined christian woman who run a charity called Via Wings.   Check them out here.  http://www.viawings.co.uk/   They are doing amazing things.

Just want to share with you one of the things which happened today because it made me smile and made a few people cry and it demonstrates perfectly how amazing God is.

Several years ago a lady had cancer.  She was battling through - exhausted. terrified, unable to really put into words just how she was feeling and what it was like for her.  She went into Next one day with her husband and saw this

she said to her husband that this was how she was feeling, and she bought the sculpture and took it home.

Several years later she had recovered fully from the cancer and she decided she should give the sculpture to Via Wings where it was placed in the prayer room.   Last night as the conference room was being set up  Gail, the founder of Via Wings suddenly felt that the sculpture needed to be at the conference.  So she sent someone across town to the prayer room to fetch it.

The visiting speaker today had brought a friend with her.  The friend obviously knew nothing about any of the above.  During the prayer time she stood up and said that God had shown her a picture of someone crouching in the foetal position in so much pain that they couldnt  share or even find the words to express.  God saw the pain, knew the situation and was full of love and compassion.  She urged whoever it was to get prayer.   Gail then jumped up brandishing the sculpture and said ' Look what God told me to bring along today!  He says I am to give it to the person for whom this word is relevant.'

I didnt see who took the sculpture but sure as anything that person was in the room.

How intricate are the ways and plans of God.  How well He knows us and how many ways does He use to communicate His love for us.  How often does he use the trials we go through to bring comfort to the next person who is going through that trial?  How much does He love to surprise us and use us as pieces in a bigger picture - each one playing a small part in something bigger?   I love this stuff.   When people ask me why I believe in God - this is why.  This stuff happens ALL the time - way too often for it to be coincidence.

So today I urge you to pay attention to the small things.  If God tells you to buy something, buy it.  If He tells you to give something away - give it.  If He tells you to go back home to fetch something - do it.  And if He shows you a picture in a meeting, share it.   You might not know why you have to buy/give/go/share.   You might not know for years - or ever.   But that's not the point.  The point is that to obey is better than sacrifice, and your part in the story is important.

The lady who had recovered from cancer was in the meeting today.  So she got to see her sculpture start the next part of its journey of blessing.  God is nice like that. :)
