Lent 33 Thankful

What are you thankful for?

How often do you thank people for the things you are thankful for?

Here are some of the things Im thanking God for today - and should probably thank some people for too :)

Always having had enough to eat
For being born healthy and having never had any major health problems
My brother
Parents who were not afraid
A great education
A select bunch of fantastic friends
a creative imagination
Music
Each of my children being so different and funny
Coffee
the people who laboured to translate the Bible into English
a sense of humour
My piano
My bed
technology which allows me to stay connected
opportunities to use my gifts
answered prayers
a family which puts up with me when Im grumpy
Living in a country which is at peace

It is good just to pause for a moment and count your blessings.  Especially if we are feeling a bit sorry for ourselves .  We are living through an amazing time in history - quite possibly the last times in history - and we are blessed beyond measure to have the things that we have and know the people we know .  It is so easy to take it all for granted and to moan about the minor irritations in life instead of being grateful for the myriad brilliant blessings.

So today why not determine to say ' thank you' more often.  And maybe stop for a second just to smell the coffee /roses/ perfume/ freshly baked bread and appreciate everything anew.  You will feel better for it.  And then.....
